The January 2018 issue inaugurates volume 50 of Administration & Society. The publication began its life in May 1969 as the Journal of Comparative Administration, co-edited by Peter Savage and Charles Levine. Across the remaining issues of the 50th anniversary year of A&S, I will be sharing with readers glimpses of the past development of the journal, reflections on where we are now, and thoughts about where A&S should go next. As always, we will publish scholarship covering a wide range of research questions, value orientations, and methodological approaches in the study of public administration and public affairs, including the impacts of administrative work on governance in democratic societies. I hope readers will be inspired to engage in dialogue with authors, and one another, as we progress through our 50th year.
